President Hits Out At Social Media Once Again: Says Certain Elements Create Wrong Picture About Government

President Maithripala Sirisena hit out at social media again saying a section of the society using the modern technology to create a distorted picture about the government.

“But, I must say that the initiatives taken for the betterment of the majority cannot be halted due to the acts by a small group,” the President said addressing a ceremony held at the Pulatisi Buddhi Mandapaya in Polonnaruwa, on Saturday.

The President said these elements were misusing the democracy and freedom ensured by the the current administration, while adding that their conduct would not deter the government’s agenda.

Sirisena said the modern technology was invented for the betterment of the mankind. “But, these elements use it for a different purpose,” he added.

“I must reiterate that we, as a government, will not renege on our promises. We are committed to fulfill our responsibilities to the public, despite these sinister attempts,” the President explained.
