Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been invited to the special SLFP conference scheduled to be held at the Presidential Secretariat with incumbent President Maithripala Sirisena presiding on Nov. 3, party sources said yesterday.
A senior SLFP minister told The Island that it was mandatory for all SLFP MPs to attend the conference and each would be informed of it in writing. The invitation letters would be posted to all SLFP MPs today, he said.
The talks would be held without any conditions. The conference is expected to take up the SLFPâs campaign at the forthcoming local government polls and the participants were expected to express their views on how to make SLFP a formidable force in the election and to assign tasks to the electoral organisers, the minister said.
