Sex experts from South Asia and colleagues from the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Australia, will gather in Sri Lanka in November for a congress which will focus on regional issues.
The Third Biennial Meeting of the South Asian Society for Sexual Medicine (SASSM) will be held from November 19 to 21 in Colombo, on a theme of âNew Frontiers in Sexual medicine: Mind, Body & Scienceâ.
âThe biennial congress will bring together experts from all over the world and the distinguished faculty will address the most recent advances and future directions in sexual medicine,â Lasantha Malavige, a doctor from Sri Lanka who is incoming President of the organization said in a statement.
The South Asian Society of Sexual Medicine (SASSM) is a regional affiliate of the Society of the International Society of Sexual Medicine (ISSM). It seeks to expand the practice of sexual medicine in the region
Previous SASSM meetings were held in Bengaluru, India (2013), Dhaka, Bangladesh (2015), and an interim congress in Mysore India (2016).
âWe have taken an effort to make the program regionally relevant by giving prominence to problems that are common among our region,â Scientific Chair of the Conference Ajith Malalasekera said.
âWe have also taken into consideration cultural and social sensitives.â
The scientific program has been designed to make it regionally relevant.
âWe sincerely hope that specialists in this field, doctors from other specialties, general practitioners, psychologists, counselors and other health care providers in sexual medicine and sexology will make maximum use of this event,â Congress Chair Iyanthi Abeywickrama added.
âThis conference aims to improve their knowledge and clinical finesse to serve their patients even better.â
