Govt. devoted to protecting children -President

President Maithripala Sirisena says it is the motive of the government to safeguard children from accidents.

Addressing the inauguration of the ‘Suraksha’ student insurance scheme at Temple Trees this morning aimed at providing students with health insurance the Head of State said the most important investment that can be made towards the development of a country is the development of the education sector.

The Head of State said education is the most vital investment that can be made towards the development of a country adding that there are no limitations imposed on education, this is a well known fact.

The President noted the government sees the opportunity to provide students with a health insurance scheme, an idea set forth by the Prime Minister under a government policy, as a big opportunity adding that students may think that they have no problems as they are covered by a health insurance scheme, and may portray reckless tendencies, however the government’s wish for students is that they are protected at all times.
