‘Galle Dialogue 2017’

To be held in October

The ‘Galle Dialogue 2017’, annual International Maritime Conference organized by the Sri Lanka Navy is to be held on 09th and 10th October 2017 at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo. According to Navy media, the conference will be held for the 8th consecutive year with the participation of 38 countries.

Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah speaking to media personnel during a press briefing held at the Navy Headquarters on Monday (25th September) said that the Galle Dialogue provides a common platform for stakeholders of national and international repute to discuss and deliberate issues related to maritime security.

For the first time, renowned defence industries worldwide have been invited to take part in the conference this year. Held under the theme ‘Greater Maritime Visibility for Enhanced Maritime Security’, the Galle Dialogue 2017 will enable participants to discuss ways and means to enhance ‘maritime visibility’ through constructive deliberations. Over the years the conclave has seen its importance rise in the international arena with foreign participation from 2010 to 2017 witnessing an increase from 100 to nearly 200.
