LG elections to be held under new electoral system – PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe says the upcoming election will be held under a new electoral system.

Addressing an event in Mawathagama the Premier said all parties will collectively solve issues in the preferential voting system and contest the election.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe noted as the preferential voting system portrays the mandate of the people it must be protected.

Premier Wickremesinghe noted as this system ensures a Minister for every electorate, no party will be at a disadvantage.
