Rain predicted for several districts

Department of Meteorology says several spells of shower will occur in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Northern and North-Western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers may occur in the Uva province and in the Batticaloa district after 2pm. There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers.

The Department urged the general public to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.

It also warned that sea area off the coast extending from Colombo to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota can be fairly rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 50kmph.
