Kadawatha – Kerawalapitiya Expressway under construction
The constructions of Kadawatha – Kerawalapitiya Expressway are taking place rapidly at present. It is a front line project of the Government’s sustainable development programme.
The constructions were launched on the first of January last year under the supervision of the Road Development Authority under the direction of President Maithripala Sirisena. The Kerawalapitiya Expressway is 9.6 kilometers long and has four lanes. Five overhead bridges are being built along the Expressway. It will be recorded in the history as an Expressway that has been built over another Expressway which is Colombo – Katunayaka Expressway.
The project is implemented with Chinese and state banks loan grants. The project will cost nearly 78 billion rupees. Those who are travelling on Southern Expressway will be able to travel towards Katunayaka or Central Expressway skipping Colombo town, by travelling on this expressway.
Kadawatha – Kerawalapitiya Expressway will be vested in the public in the middle of the year 2019.
