Advocating corruption court Ajith trying to make PM happy – Namal
Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ajith P. Perera is advocating the setting up of a corruption Court to score ‘points’ with the Prime Minister, said United Peoples’ Freedom Alliance (UPFA) MP Namal Rajapaksa.
He added that Perera was well aware of the law and is keen to make the UNP Leader happy.
“There is a law in this country and I am sure that Ajith P. Perera knows it much better than most of the MPs in the UNP. But he doesn’t want to lose his ministry.
He knows that the existing law is what it is. A minister cannot interfere with the AG’s Department or the Judiciary and ask them to expedite a particular case. That is not the independence of the Judiciary. Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe is allowing the Judicial system to move forward, as it is, without interfering. The government is at a loss as what to do, therefore, they are pointing the finger at the Rajapaksa family in order to cover up the Bonds scam, he said. Referring to the UNP’s conflict with Rajapakshe, he added, “Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe and we have different political views. This particular incident is against the Hambantota Port transaction.
Everything which Minister Rajapakshe is saying now, we have been saying for the past two years. We are happy that he has understood reality.”
