Police Headquarters today released CCTV footage of the bank robbery which took place in Attidiya yesterday (10), to the media in order to seek help in identifying the suspects.

Two men attempting to rob a private bank in Attidiya took the life of one security officer and severely injured another when they had reportedly opened fire at the security officers whilst robbing the bank.

The injured officer is currently receiving treatment at the Kalubowila Hospital.

The incident had occurred at approximately 12.00 pm yesterday (10) when the two armed robbers entered the private bank and held hostages at gunpoint.

The suspects had then proceeded to steal a large sum on money from a customer who had arrived at the bank.

The suspects had initially arrived at the Dehiwala area in order to rob another financial institution, according to Police reports.

They had then ventured to the Attidiya region as the initial target was found to have been closed.

The suspects are still at large while police are hoping to gain the assistance from the public to identify the armed-men.
