Over 1950 complaints to the Sri Lanka CERT over the last 7 months
The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team reported almost 1950 internet related complaints over the course of 2017.
Speaking to the media, information security engineer Roshan Chandraguptha stated that the majority of inquiries were related to Facebook profiles and their privacy concerns.
It was further stated that the reporting of fake Facebook accounts, breach of privacy within Facebook accounts and the utilization of pictures posted on Facebook for obscene purposes were amongst the most common complaints.
Roshan Chandraguptha further stated that necessary steps had been taken to resolve and satisfy all inquiries brought forward.
He also reported that over the past seven months, there were several reports of attempted hacks into e-mail addresses and other social media platforms to corrupt or access data.
