Vishaka Sudarshani Abeyratne (34) had been abducted from her home around 7.30 pm on July 27 by a group of persons who came in a three wheeler, a senior police officer attached to the Ratnapura Police told The Island yesterday.
The police investigations commenced following a complaint by her husband, but so far no one has been arrested.
The businessman was away with his daughter and only the wife and the two sons were at home at the time of the abduction.
Police said the CCTV footage showed a person yet to be identified entering the house and abducting the victim. A son was seen shouting for help but before the neighbours arrive the abductors fled the scene, according to investigators.
The police, with the help of the registration number of the vehicle, taken down by one of the victimâs sons traced the three wheeler used for the crime.
According to a statement given by one of the sons, a person who jumped over the parapet wall attacked his mother before taking her away.
