UNP Colombo District MP Hirunika Premachandra seeks parliament approval to set up a special unit under the Criminal Investigation Department to crackdown on porn on the internet.
The former glamour model says in a private member motion submitted to be debated in Parliament that pornographic videos have damaged the privacy of various people.
Women are mostly inconvenienced because of the pornographic videos available in abundance on the net, says the motion printed in the latest Addendum to the Order Book of Parliament released on July 28.
The Motion reads: âThat this parliament resolves that an effective special unit be set up within the Criminal Investigation Department to investigate into the individuals who create, distribute and keep the pornographic videos, since the privacy of the people is damaged and the women are mostly inconvenienced seeing that various pornographic videos are circulated presently in the internet in abundance.â
