Five arrested over illegal treasure hunt

Five individuals have been arrested for conducting illegal excavations in search of alleged buried treasures in Bulathkohupitiya, Kalupahana.

Police Headquarters stated that the five suspects had been arrested upon a raid, which was conducted based on a tip received by Bulathkohupitiya Police.

The equipment used for the excavation have also been taken into Police custody following the arrest.

The suspects are due to be produced before the Ruwanwella Magistrate’s Court.

Meanwhile, Bulathkohupitiya Police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
