Approximately 24,000 families have been affected by the drought plaguing the Vavuniya District.
The Disaster Management Center of the Vavuniya District stated that 85,771 individuals of 24,507 families have been victimized by the severe drought situation prevailing across the district.
Reports also indicate that 667 families of the Vavuniya District are facing difficulties in obtaining clean water for drinking purposes.
The Disaster Management Center accordingly stated that the security forces and the Divisional Secretariat Office of Vavuniya together were taking measures to supply water to those unable to find clean drinking water.
