Two individuals including a Police Sergeant have been arrested over the theft of a mobile phone and cash from a Chinese national in Wellawatte.
Wellawatte Police Department reported that the Sergeant was arrested in Gampaha.
The woman of Chinese nationality had been robbed of Rs. 10 520 000Â and a mobile phone on the 27 of last month (June).
Upon further investigations carried out by the Wellawatte Police on the complaint, they were able to arrest two individuals linked to the robbery in Gampaha, out of which one was a Sergeant.
The arrested Sergeant was attached to the Gampaha Police department, and is yet to be produced to the Dehiwala Magistrate’s Court.
