Man held with foreign currency worth Rs.2.4 million at BIA

A Sri Lankan businessman, aged 48-years, who was bound to Bangkok early morning, has been intercepted by customs officers on suspicion and found foreign currency worth of Rs. 2450000 (US$ 15600 & Swiss Frank 200) while attempting to smuggle out of the country.
The customs spokesperson said that the money was forfeited after an inquiry was conducted by Premarathne Banda, Deputy Director of  Customs and released the passenger without a penalty  having severely warned.
Detection was made by Hahaha Wijegunarathne, Assistant Superintendent of Customs with the assistance of U.G I. N. Bandar and D.M.G. Daniel Assistant Superintendent  of Customs.
