67 Blacklisted.
The Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Bureau (SLBFE) stated that 67 foreign employment agencies have been black listed in the past six months.
A total of 61 foreign employment agencies were blacklisted last year.
The SLBFE noted that there was a lack of adequate assistance to resolve the complaints, due to people migrating for work without registering with the Bureau, submitting counterfeit documents, financial fraud and other similar reasons.
As of now, 702 registered employers have registered themselves with the Bureau of Foreign Employment, out of which 355 are from the Colombo district.
Minister of Foreign Employment, Thalatha Atukorale stated that counterfeit documents have been used in the past to send off mothers with young children to work as well.
