The Education Ministry says that schools in the Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces that had been closed due to the disaster conditions will reopen today.
This is with the exemption of schools being used as shelters for the displaced.
Issuing a communiqué the Ministry said that in the Southern Province 10 schools being used as shelters for the victims and 29 schools that have been damaged would not reopen today.
in the Sabaragamuwa Province with the exception of 15 schools which are being used as shelters all other school in the area will reopen today.
14 schools belonging to the Aelapaatha, Ayagama, Nivitigala and Kalavaana Divisional Secretariats are scheduled to reopen tomorrow.
