Summons on BBC journalist: CID regrets inconvenience caused
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has informed BBC correspondent in Sri Lanka, Azzam Ameen, that it was not necessary for him to visit the CID.
The CID yesterday had summoned Ameen, to record a statement over one of his retweets on Tuesday (8). Ameen was asked to appear before the CID today at 10am.
“I was informed by the Police via phone and through a letter this morning that it is not necessary for me to visit the CID. They regretted any inconvenience. I am grateful to those who expressed their support to me in many ways on this issue,” Ameen in his Twitter handle said.
