CID to investigate O/Level discrepancies
The Criminal Investigations Department has been handed over investigations into students using mobile phones during the 2017 GCE Ordinary Level Examination for the mathematics paper.
The investigations were handed over to the CID on the instructions of the Inspector General of Police Pujith Jayasundara.
Police investigations are also being conducted into the two incidents.
When inquired by NewsRadio the Commissioner General of Examinations Sanath Pujitha said the discrepancies were reported from Anuradhapura and Colombo.
He noted the Police were requested to promptly carry out inspections pertaining to the matter.
A student of a school in Anuradhapura, had taken pictures of the question paper and sent it to a friend through Viber and Imo.
Initial investigations revealed the answers to the questions were sent back to the students.
The Commissioner General of Exams noted a temporary examination ban was imposed on the student.
Meanwhile the Commissioner General requested the Police to carry out investigations into an incident of a private candidate sitting the Ordinary Level Examination using a mobile phone at a reputed school in Colombo.
